Introduction
The Erasmus Program , which name is related to Erazm from Rotterdam, has been established in 1987. The aim of the program is to popularise and exchange the students among the international universities in European Union.
Since 1995 Erasmus has belonged to the common Socrates program which supports international co-operation in sphere of education, the name SocratesErasmus should underline the fact that Erasmus is the essential part of the wider Socrates program.
The biggest part of Socrates is the Erasmus program which is related to higher educational system. The aims which are accomplished in terms of this program:
Erasmus is opened for all the types of the universities , it includes all the faculties and the different levels of the studies. There are about 70 universities which take part in this program in Poland. The key element of Erasmus is the University Agreement signed between European Commission and the university. Each project which is presented to the Commission should consist of the description of European policy of certain university as well as the description of the aims related to co-operation with other countries belonging to this program. University Agreement is signed for 3 years but the European Union funds are granted every year.
